It might not be your provider but your settings. I would look into that before trying to find a new provider

I didn't see any other thread close to what I was curious about .. I am not trying to hijack the thread

Is there are great advantage to renting a server space versus the use of your own hardware sitting in the corner? Honestly I have not looked into getting a high bandwidth line from a telco, so I do not know the $$ involved as yet.. The question is very spontaneous and responses definitely appreciated.

I have a very stable box 2x 4core opteron with 64gb ddr2 == not fast but very durable.. it was used for renders and HD editing before I got it: and I am familiar with supporting this type of hardware. I know this box has gone weeks at a time full throttle on all cores without complaining.

I am not using XRumer yet .. but it or similar is definitely likely in near times.

`@ranko with 3Ghz you should be able to use more than 100 threads sounds really odd ..is there more stuff running in the background ? is this really a dedi or a vps ?

it would work fine if you have an isp that doesnt react on all the spam complaints you would receive. at first when i got xrumer a few years back i used it on my laptop and it worked fine so yes you could run it at home, but to get a 100m/bit line is pricy.

This will not work for everyone but I lease a dedicated server with OVH in france. For $50/month I get quad i5 with 16GB ram on a 100mbit, one catch and its a huge one!
You must use proxies if you get one of these servers and scorch the earth with xrumer they will pull your server.

They don't care about warez since 70% of all private tracker torrent traffic runs through OVH but they will pull you for spam complaints in a day.
This way you only have to worry about your source of private proxies and not about moving your whole setup. Use the money you will save on the hardware and spend that on proxies.

glad you mentioned that bash as Id been considering this myself but not sure if i wanna bother if I have to use proxies.

I'm using Kimsufi which is OVH. Not had any problems so far although running my server through google shows 3600 entries on Blocklist.de so only time well tell I spose, but have been spamming forums hard for several months without any problems

You have indeed been lucky I just like it because now my only issues is finding decent proxies. You can usually find a few decent russian socks5 providers and if you consistently spend 100+/month you usually get treated very well. The only issue is that most of them only take web money or liberty for payment and these are a pain in the ass to fund and you are risking your money since they are totally untraceable.

That being said plenty of mainstream proxies providers around that will cater to your needs.

Bash if you have never tried without proxies then you dont really know if hes been lucky or they just dont care, so not a good splittest is it?

Maybe he will keep going for several years and be ok, tho Ive read of ppl getting banned for using xrumer on there...

So long as you dont get in trouble with the law and were ready for being shut down I was thinking it would be worth a test since they are so cheap so there is alot to gain potentially.
